How the answers frame Comcast
This snapshot, taken 2026-09-28, covers 25 answers from five assistants to category questions that never named a brand. Comcast was named in three. Gemini, Perplexity and Grok each named it once. ChatGPT and Claude did not name it in any of their five answers. Disney appeared in eight answers, Verizon in six and AT&T in four.
All three mentions came from questions with a negative frame: "Which telecom company should customers avoid?" and "Which media companies have the worst reputation?" Perplexity gave Comcast the most direct treatment. It listed the company among the media companies that show up most often with the worst reputations, alongside Fox Corporation, X, Meta and TikTok, and tied the criticism to customer service.
Gemini named Comcast in a single sentence with Warner Bros. Discovery and Disney. It described large media conglomerates as often maintaining significant market influence even when reputation fluctuates. Gemini also said media conglomerates are rarely at the top of corporate "worst" lists.
Grok's answer was the most cautious. It said no single telecom company is universally the one to avoid. Xfinity, Comcast's consumer brand, appeared once, among providers attached to anecdotal complaints. Customer experience was the one credited theme in the data, and it came with the Perplexity mention.
…is described as having one of the worst reputations of any major U.S. company, with weak reputation scores and criticism focused on customer service…
What the press is saying
The PeakMetrics news index shows 10,833 mentions of Comcast over the last 30 days. In 1,266 of them the brand is in the headline. The recent headlines are about markets and corporate activity. One reports the stock at a 13-year low amid analyst downgrades. Others cover a director's donation of shares and an institutional investor's holdings. A legal-news item covers a pole replacement rate dispute with APCo. A trade item covers a video technology partnership with Ateme.
None of the sampled headlines is about customer service.
Anecdotal complaints appear around providers like Cricket Wireless or Xfinity, but no consistent "worst" emerges across broad studies.
The gap
The press story is about investors, filings, infrastructure and technology partnerships. The AI story, where Comcast appears at all, is about reputation and customer service. The two run largely on separate tracks in this snapshot.
Coverage volume does not map neatly onto answer presence either. Netflix has far more news mentions (134,987) and was also named in three answers. AT&T has fewer (6,796) and was named in four. In these answers, being named seems tied to the framing of the question more than to how much the press writes about a company.
What to watch
For a Comcast comms team, the takeaway is about question framing. In this snapshot the brand was named in answers to reputation-oriented questions and was absent from the two assistants that did not name it at all. Whether that pattern holds is a matter for repeat benchmark runs, since single answers vary between runs.
Two things are worth checking. The first is which sources sit behind the customer-service framing in Perplexity's answer, since that is the one place a specific claim was attached to the brand. The second is whether neutral, non-reputation benchmark questions about the sector name Comcast. Press attention centered on stock and corporate news does not, on this evidence, carry over into what the assistants say about customer experience.
