How the answers frame Capcom
This is a snapshot from 29 September 2026: 250 benchmark questions put to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok, none naming a brand. Capcom was named in 102 of 1,250 answers. That places it 13th of the 15 gaming brands tracked, well behind Sony PlayStation (583), Xbox (515) and Nintendo (503).
Where it did appear, the framing was consistent. Claude's answer on release dates described Capcom as "one of the most consistent publishers" with a reputation for avoiding rushed launches. ChatGPT's answer on the best-run publishers put Capcom first, citing a reported twelfth straight year of rising operating profit. In its answer on highest-quality games, ChatGPT listed Capcom for polished action and horror games. Grok's trust and goodwill answers grouped Capcom with Nintendo and Square Enix, and placed it second in its approximate goodwill ranking.
Visibility by question intent was uneven. Capcom showed up most in trust (20%), leadership (17%), employer (15%), safety (13%) and reliability (12%) questions. It was close to absent on value (1%), service (2%), monetization practices (2%) and online community moderation (1%).
Some of the thinnest mentions were not flattering. In ChatGPT's answer on support tickets, Capcom appeared as a publisher without a stated response time. In its answer on modders and fan creators, Capcom was one of the names ChatGPT considered as an example of accusations.
Grok accounted for the most appearances (36 of 250 answers), followed by ChatGPT (21), Perplexity (18), Gemini (15) and Claude (12).
Capcom stands out as one of the most consistent publishers, with a steady run of high-quality games and a reputation for avoiding rushed launches…
What the press is saying
PeakMetrics' news index recorded 3,976 mentions of Capcom in the last 30 days, 434 of them with Capcom in the headline. The recent headlines are about consumer-facing brand activity. They cover pop-up stores in Los Angeles and Kuala Lumpur, a life-sized Lady Dimitrescu statue, Onimusha: Way of the Sword passing one million units, and Capcom's Spotlight showcase at TGS 2026.
That volume is well below Sony PlayStation (26,590) and Xbox (26,577). It is comparable to or higher than several publishers named in more answers, including Electronic Arts (3,478), Epic Games (3,610) and Activision Blizzard (3,632).
In recent years, very strong track record for polished action and horror games.
The gap
The press story is about merchandise, events and sales milestones. The AI story is about consistent quality, financial results and trust. The answers sampled did not mention pop-up stores or statues, and the news headlines did not carry the operating-profit or polish framing that ChatGPT and Claude used.
Press volume also did not translate into answer volume. Capcom's news count is close to that of publishers such as Electronic Arts and Activision Blizzard, yet it was named in far fewer answers than either (381 and 271 against 102 for Capcom... reversed: those two were named more often).
Capcom and Activision don’t promise quick turnarounds…
What to watch
For a Capcom comms team, this snapshot suggests the assistants have a coherent quality-and-consistency story to draw on, but they reach for it mainly on trust, leadership and reliability questions. Questions about support, value, monetization and community moderation are where Capcom was least visible, and where the ChatGPT support answer noted no promised turnaround.
The useful follow-up is to check which sources the assistants cite for those topics and whether Capcom's own material appears there. These are single snapshots of live answers, and a re-run could look different. They show what the assistants said on one day, not a fixed ranking.
