How the answers frame Adyen
This snapshot was measured on 2026-09-29 across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok, using 250 benchmark questions that never named a brand. Adyen was named in 104 of 1,250 answers. By assistant, that was ChatGPT 28 of 250, Grok 24, Gemini 22, Claude 17 and Perplexity 13. In the same set, PayPal appeared in 532 answers, Block in 508 and Stripe in 269.
Adyen's visibility varied by question intent. It was highest on leadership and employer questions (28% each) and innovation (16%). It was lower on reliability (9%) and trust (7%), and near zero on value, service, safety and money movement speed. The data marks almost no credit assigned to Adyen for anything specific, so the answers mostly name it without describing it.
In the four sampled answers, Adyen sat alongside larger names. ChatGPT listed it among the biggest players in online checkout and e-commerce payments. In the question about growing without major scandals, ChatGPT's working notes leaned toward Wise, with Adyen "close behind". Claude's employer answer described Adyen as the most stable and the most in-office option. Gemini put Stripe first for developer tools and placed Adyen in a table of alternatives.
Adyen is the most stable and the most in-office…
What the press is saying
PeakMetrics' news index shows 1,322 mentions of Adyen over the last 30 days, 293 with the brand in the headline. The recent headlines are corporate and commercial. They cover a CFO nomination (Niclas Neglen), a stock-valuation piece after an India expansion, a Guidewire Marketplace partnership for insurers, a Flatpay partnership for small-business expansion in Europe, and a unified in-store and online payments deal with Tod's.
That is a moderate volume of coverage. Among the peers in this snapshot, PayPal (28,552 mentions), Block (28,448) and Coinbase (28,217) sit far higher. Adyen's count is in the same range as Affirm (1,860) and Klarna (2,699) and above Plaid (711).
Excellent for businesses scaling internationally that need a single, unified platform for online, mobile, and in-store payments.
The gap
The press story is about deals, geographic expansion and leadership changes. The AI story, in these answers, is that Adyen is a recurring entry on lists. Nothing in the four sampled answers mentions the India expansion, the Guidewire or Flatpay partnerships, or the CFO news.
Volume and visibility also do not line up simply. Coinbase has roughly twenty times Adyen's news volume but was named in fewer answers (75). Stripe has more than five times Adyen's news volume and was named in about two and a half times as many answers. Press volume alone does not explain who the assistants name. These are single snapshots, and live answers vary between runs.
What to watch
A comms team would first note where Adyen already shows up: leadership and employer questions. The Claude answer's "stable" and "in-office" framing shows how the assistants can describe it on the employer side. It is worth checking whether that matches how the company wants to be described.
The second point is the thin showing on reliability and trust questions, where the assistants name it far less often. Those are the questions where partnership and product news could matter. Track which domains the assistants cite for those questions and whether Adyen's recent announcements appear in them.
Repeat the benchmark questions before reading any of this as a pattern. One run is not a trend.
