Publisher’s rating: 誤り

The review says the claim that no Democratic Party for the People members visited Yasukuni Shrine on August 15, 2025, is false. It reports that at least three party members said they visited on August 15, and one other member said she visited the day before.

Publisher’s rating: 誤り

A post attributed the statement about taking the championship flag to their homeland to a Kyoto International player. The review says the linked article reported pitcher Kazuki Nishimura’s comment that he felt disliked, but did not contain the championship-flag statement; the post had taken that wording from a message-board thread title.

Publisher’s rating: 誤り

The review examined an image circulating on X that appeared to show European leaders waiting near the U.S. president’s office. It connected the image to the August 18, 2025, White House meeting involving President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders. The review found that the image was AI-generated, rather than an actual photograph of the leaders waiting there. The scene depicted in the image therefore does not establish that European leaders were made to wait for the president. The review compared the circulating image with a White House video of the leaders’ event. It noted that the people shown did not match the video’s participants: the image included three women, while the video showed two, and the clothing of the women identified as European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni differed from what they wore in the video. It also described a figure represented only by legs, with no upper body visible. These discrepancies supported the review’s conclusion that the image was not an authentic photograph of the meeting. The review also reported that an AI-image detection tool, HIVE MODERATION, assessed a high-resolution version as “99.7%” likely to be AI-generated or a deepfake. Its image-search investigation found the same image posted before the leaders’ meeting: one post was dated August 18 at 2:24 a.m. Japan time, while the Trump–Zelenskyy meeting began after 2 a.m. Japan time on August 19. That timing further undermined the image’s presentation as a photograph from the meeting. The review further reports that French outlet TF1 and U.S. fact-checking organization Lead Stories also assessed the image as AI-generated. It cites Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation, which called the image fake and warned that it was being spread as Russian propaganda.
