Research from related reporting says unofficial claims described negotiations to buy 30 to 40 J-10C fighters and that some sources alleged an initial delivery. The excerpt says the matter had not been officially confirmed by Chinese or Iranian officials, so it does not establish that Iran bought and received exactly 40 jets.[S1]
