The video shows people travelling to the 2025 Prayagraj Mahakumbh in a boat-shaped vehicle called Kaliyug’s Pushpak Viman.

Publisher’s rating: FALSE

The claim concerns a video of people riding in a boat-shaped vehicle, presented as footage of travel to the 2025 Prayagraj Mahakumbh in what the post calls “Kaliyug’s Pushpak Viman.” FACTLY’s review investigated the video itself, rather than just the wording of the post, and concluded that the footage originated in Thailand and was unrelated to India. [S1: “A video being shared on social media (here, here, and here) shows people riding in a boat-shaped vehicle. It is being shared with the claim that these individuals are travelling to the 2025 Prayagraj Mahakumbh in Kaliyug’s Pushpak Viman.”] [S1: “The viral video originates from Thailand. Several Thai users shared it on social media in November 2024, predating the 2025 Prayagraj Mahakumbh.”] To trace the footage, the review says it searched for the claim and found no reports, then reverse-searched keyframes. That search led to an Instagram post dated 5 November 2024 showing the same video, with a TikTok account watermark. The review also found the same video on that account, posted on the same date with a Thai caption. This establishes a documented circulation of the video before the 2025 event, rather than evidence of Mahakumbh travel. [S1: “To verify the claim, we performed a Google search using the keywords ‘devotees arrived in 2025 Prayagraj Mahakumbh in a boat-shaped vehicle and Kalyug Pushpak Viman.’ No such reports were found. We then conducted a reverse image search of the keyframes from the viral video which led us to an Instagram post (archived) dated 05 November 2024, featuring the same video.”] [S1: “We searched for the TikTok account @b_lawan_klanthong and found the same video posted by the user with a Thai caption on 05 November 2024.”] The review describes additional checks that point to Thailand: it says a news article and Newsflare also identified the video as Thai, and that Shutterstock images attributed to Thailand showed the vehicle beside a sign reading “Kamphaeng Phet.” The article identifies Kamphaeng Phet as a province in Thailand. Taken together, the pre-event posts and the location clues support the conclusion that the video was misrepresented as footage from Prayagraj. [S1: “We also found the same video on Newsflare (archived), a website that shares verified user-generated video content, which was also identified as being from Thailand.”] [S1: “One of these pictures features a signboard with ‘Kamphaeng Phet’ written on it. A quick search revealed that Kamphaeng Phet is a province located in Thailand.”]

Video showing the conch shell (shankh) being blown non-stop for 2 minutes and 49 seconds during the inauguration ceremony of the 2025 Maha Kumbh Mela

Publisher’s rating: MISLEADING

The review found that the video was not from the 2025 Maha Kumbh inauguration: it dates to 13 February 2023 and shows the Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat in Varanasi. It identifies President Droupadi Murmu and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the footage during Murmu’s visit.
