Modi pays tributes to both Mahatma Gandhi and his murderer Nathuram Godse.
Publisher’s rating: FALSE
The claim concerns a collage shared on Facebook that appeared to show Narendra Modi paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi in one image and Nathuram Godse in another. FACTLY’s review identifies the right-hand image as the key to the allegation: it says the person being honoured there was not Godse, but Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay, founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, the predecessor of the present-day Bharatiya Janata Party. The review therefore concludes that the collage’s claim was false. To investigate the images, FACTLY says it cropped the left and right pictures from the collage and searched for them using Google Reverse Image Search. It reports that the left image came from Modi’s inauguration of the Mahatma Gandhi Museum in Rajkot, Gujarat. The right image was traced to an occasion when Modi paid respects to Upadhyay. This distinction matters: the collage joined images from separate occasions, and the right-hand photograph did not show Modi honouring Gandhi’s assassin. FACTLY dates the event in the right-hand image to April 6, 2017, during the BJP’s 38th Foundation Day celebrations. It says Modi was joined by Amit Shah, Venkaiah Naidu and Suresh Prabhu in paying respects to Upadhyay. The review’s account thus identifies both the subject of the right-hand image and the occasion on which it was taken, directly addressing the allegation that the image showed a tribute to Godse.

Mamata Banerjee said she want to slap Modi when he comes to West Bengal
Publisher’s rating: FALSE
FACTLY examined a post attributing to Mamata Banerjee the words, “I want to slap Modi when he comes to West Bengal.” Its review says she did not say she wanted to slap Modi in the literal sense. Instead, the phrase reported from her speech at Purulia was that she wanted to give him a “tight slap of democracy.” That distinction changes the meaning of the remark: the review presents it as a figurative political rebuke, not a stated intention to physically slap him. To check the wording, FACTLY says it searched Google using the keywords “Mamatha wanted to slap Modi” and found news articles describing the Purulia speech. It quotes the reported remarks as referring to Modi accusing Banerjee’s party of being “Tolabaaz,” followed by her saying she wanted to give him a “tight slap of democracy.” The review also says the Trinamool Congress posted the actual words spoken by its chief on its official Facebook account. On the evidence described in the review, the post’s shortened wording omits the crucial phrase “of democracy” and therefore misrepresents what Banerjee said.

Il nostro tesoriere Zanda aveva proposto [...] di abbassare gli stipendi dei parlamentari, mettendoli allo stesso piano di quelli dei parlamentari europei, che sono inferiori
Publisher’s rating: Nì
The claim was that the Democratic Party, through a proposal by its treasurer Zanda, had sought to reduce Italian parliamentarians’ pay to the lower level of European parliamentarians’ pay. The review says this was partly right but misleading because it focused on salary rather than the full economic treatment of deputies and senators. According to the review, the proposal would have reduced the gross monthly salary, narrowly defined, from nearly €10,500 to less than €8,800 by aligning it with European parliamentarians’ pay. But other allowances could change the comparison: under a theoretical scenario involving a deputy with full attendance, a month with many sittings, and expenses claimed up to the available limit, the total treatment could have been as much as about €500 higher. The review therefore distinguishes a reduction in salary from a reduction in overall compensation.
Claim: Yogi threatens India will be set on fire
Publisher’s rating: FALSE
The review investigated a Facebook post showing Yogi Adityanath beside a purported news card. The card’s Tamil translation attributed to him a threat that, if his government fell, the whole country would be set on fire, and said he made the remark in Kanpur. The review described the post as circulating during the election period, when verbal clashes between the BJP and Congress were intensifying. To check the allegation, the publisher searched Google for news reports of the supposed statement and found none. It also used reverse-image search on the card; the results it found included fact-checks by Alt News and Fact Crescendo’s Hindi-language division that said the claim was false. These searches are reported as the publisher’s investigative steps, not as independent confirmation that no such statement could have been made. The review traced the logo on the card to Mantavya, a Gujarati-language television channel. It reports that Alt News contacted the channel, which said it broadcasts in Gujarati, had not aired the specific report about Yogi, and believed its logo had been misused. Taken together, the absence of reported coverage, the earlier fact-check findings, and the channel’s denial of airing the item led the review to conclude that the viral card was false and deliberately fabricated.
