Indian independence activist & former CM of Madras state Kamaraj was the only person who had the honour of sitting infront of Queen Elizabeth-II

Publisher’s rating: MISLEADING

The claim concerns a photograph of K. Kamaraj with Queen Elizabeth II and says he was the only person to have the honour of sitting in front of her. FACTLY identifies the image as one taken during the Queen’s visit to Chennai on 19 February 1961. Its account says Kamaraj, then Chief Minister of Madras State, hosted a first-birthday party for Prince Andrew, where the Queen was photographed cutting a cake for her child. These details place the photograph at a specific event rather than establishing that Kamaraj was uniquely permitted to sit in the Queen’s presence. [S1]

Home Minister Amith Shah said, ‘Modi Ji sleeps for 24 hours for the welfare of the poor of the country.’

Publisher’s rating: FALSE

The claim concerns a video presented as Amit Shah saying that Modi sleeps around the clock for the poor. FACTLY says it checked the video against a longer speech by Shah at a public meeting in Chapra, West Bengal, in 2021. It reports that the BJP’s official YouTube channel had a speech matching the viral footage, uploaded on 17 April 2021 and titled “HM Shri Amit Shah addresses public meeting in Chapra, West Bengal.”

September 2022.

The claim concerns a photo comparison of German health minister Karl Lauterbach and Israeli health minister Nitzan Horowitz. The images circulated with captions implying that one was taken “yesterday evening” and the other “today,” suggesting the politicians had sent contradictory signals about wearing masks at nearly the same time. The review found that the photos were not taken in the same year: the left-hand image dates to October 2021, while the right-hand image was taken on September 11, 2022. The review traces the left-hand image to October 27, 2021. Horowitz posted it on September 11, 2022, but Lauterbach had already tweeted a nearly identical photo on October 27, 2021, identifying the occasion as a meeting with Horowitz. The review also notes that the background images and the politicians’ clothing match across the pictures, supporting the identification of the older image. The right-hand image, by contrast, shows a current event in Jerusalem on September 11, 2022: the signing of a health agreement. Horowitz had posted an earlier message that day welcoming Lauterbach to Israel, then later shared the photo of the signing used on the right side of the comparison. The juxtaposition therefore combines an archived image from October 2021 with a September 2022 image; it does not show the two scenes occurring within the claimed short interval.
