President Ranil’s Vehicle Convoy In Kandy!! (Video)
Publisher’s rating: Misleading
The claim attached to the viral video was that President Ranil Wickremesinghe was moving through Kandy in a convoy during a pre-Independence Day celebration. The review says the footage was miscaptioned: it showed a convoy associated with a diplomatic ceremony, rather than the president making the kind of appearance implied by the posts. The review also notes that Wickremesinghe was part of the convoy, a detail that does not make the viral caption accurate.

Visuals of AAP MLA in Punjab getting into an argument with the locals.
Publisher’s rating: FALSE
The claim concerns a circulating video said to show a Punjab AAP MLA arguing and fighting with local people. FACTLY reports that it traced the clip to a short film uploaded by the YouTube channel LOK AWAZ PUNJABI, rather than to footage of a real confrontation involving an MLA. The review describes its checks: the circulating clip carried a watermark reading “Lok Awaz Pubjabi,” which led the investigators to search for “Lok Awaz Punjabi.” They found a channel with that name and a full version of the clip. FACTLY says the longer video matched the viral segment from 2:29 to 3:38. The review also points to the video’s presentation and the channel’s stated purpose: its title identifies it as a short film, its description credits actors and technical staff, and the channel says its videos are made for entertainment and awareness about social evils. Those details support the conclusion that the circulating footage was an excerpt from fictional content, not evidence of the claimed real-life argument with a local AAP MLA.

The claim attached to a TikTok video, later also shared on Facebook, was that Ukrainians were holding large demonstrations to demand that President Volodymyr Zelensky step down. The investigation says the footage does not show protests in Ukraine. It identifies the locations as the National Uprising Square in Bratislava, Slovakia, rather than relying only on the accompanying claim or the language of the posts. The review notes that the visible signs use Latin script, whereas Ukrainian uses a different script, and says that recognizable buildings in the footage match the square in Bratislava. This includes the SME building and a white church tower. The video is a compilation of footage from different protests, not one demonstration against Zelensky. The review compares signs and other visual details in the clip with separately identified protest footage. It dates the first section to a protest on 16 March 2018 and the middle section to 21 February 2019. For the final section, it says the available clue—a banner reading “musia sa nás báť”—cannot establish with certainty which protest it shows; similar banner footage appeared at a protest on 9 March 2018. The investigation therefore does not assign a definite date to every part of the video. The review connects the identified demonstrations to protests following the murder of Slovak investigative journalist Ján Kuciak and his fiancée Martina Kušnírová. It reports that the couple were murdered on 21 February 2018 and that demonstrations followed, including protests on 9 and 16 March 2018 and on the anniversary in 2019. Thus, the footage’s setting and dates point to protests in Slovakia over that murder, not demonstrations in Ukraine against Zelensky.
