The claim concerns a specific Focus Online report: that Lawrow was laughed at while speaking about the war in Ukraine. The dpa review examines his appearance at the Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi on March 3, 2023, where he answered questions from the event’s moderator and audience. It reports that, near the end of the discussion, Lawrow began answering a question about the war’s effects on Russian energy policy and was interrupted by audience laughter after saying that Russia was trying to stop a war begun against it with the help of Ukrainians. The review says the laughter is audible in both the short Focus Online clip and a video of the full event circulated by the person disputing Focus’s report. It specifically compares the disputed passage in the two videos, reporting that they are identical and that the laughter can also be heard in the longer recording. That evidence directly contradicts the allegation that Focus invented the laughter. The review’s account therefore supports that the audience laughed during Lawrow’s remarks, rather than Focus falsely claiming that it happened. It also notes that a listener called out “Come on” and describes the reaction as disbelief or indignation in context. [S1: “Einer der Zuhörer ruft «Come on», was in diesem Zusammenhang ungläubige Entrüstung ausdrückt.”; “Es kann kein Zweifel bestehen: Lawrow wurde wegen seiner Behauptung, Russland versuche einen mit Hilfe des ukrainischen Volkes angezettelten Krieg zu stoppen, ausgelacht.”]
