In NRW wurden in einem Wohnblock 100 Mietern gekündigt, um in den Wohnungen künftig Geflüchtete aus der Ukraine unterzubringen.

The claim arose from a TikTok video alleging that 100 tenants in a residential block in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) had recently received notice to leave because Ukrainian refugees would be housed there. The clip showed buildings but did not identify a location; it also claimed the tenants would have to move by the end of 2023 and that replacement accommodation was available. The investigation traced the footage to buildings on Rethelstraße in Düsseldorf, then checked whether the alleged eviction or refugee housing plans could be corroborated there or elsewhere in NRW. A Düsseldorf city spokesperson said the city did not manage properties on the street, could not therefore dismiss tenants there, and had no planned refugee accommodation there.
