Die Zahl der Todesfälle im Corona-Jahr 2020 wird immer wieder angezweifelt von Menschen, die sich vehement gegen die staatlichen Maßnahmen zur Eindämmung der Pandemie stellen. Jüngst wird dem Statistischen Bundesamt in einem Artikel vom 27. Januar 2021 (hier archiviert) vorgeworfen, «irreführende Zahlen» veröffentlicht zu haben. So sollen die Statistiker 5327 Fälle von 2019 einfach dem Jahr 2020 zugerechnet und «kein Wort darüber» verloren haben. Der Autor stellt sogar eine mögliche Absicht in den Raum, «um die vermutete Übersterblichkeit möglichst groß und eindrucksvoll aussehen zu lassen».
Publisher’s rating: Das Statistische Bundesamt gibt die Todesfälle nach Kalenderwochen an - und schreibt dies auch explizit in seine Pressemitteilung. Dies ist nicht erst seit 2020 so. Weil zwei Tage aus 2019 zur ersten Kalenderwoche des Jahres 2020 gehören, fließen sie automatisch auch in die entsprechende Statistik ein.
