Las vacunaciones contra el coronavirus son inútiles
Publisher’s rating: Falso
"We have among the lowest positivity rates in America... We have one of the lowest case rates."
Publisher’s rating: Recent data from Johns Hopkins suggests this is true.
The Facebook post claimed that the EU had approved five new Covid-19 medicines for distribution from 20 October 2021, that prescribing them would be compulsory and vaccination would end, and that ivermectin had been recognized as an effective Covid-19 treatment. The review says the EU’s target was to have three new treatments by October and potentially two more by the end of the year—not to approve and distribute five medicines from 20 October. The distinction is supported by the Commission’s announcement, as quoted in the review: five candidates “could soon be available,” but they were still at an advanced stage of development and only might become three of the treatments authorized by October, subject to final data demonstrating safety, quality and efficacy. The review also says the EU did not require these medicines to be prescribed and that the strategy was intended to complement vaccination, not end it. On ivermectin, the review reports that the European Medicines Agency advised against using it to prevent or treat Covid-19 outside clinical trials in March 2021, because available data did not support recommending that use and further studies were needed. It distinguishes the study cited by the post: the Pasteur Institute research published on 12 July 2021 was preclinical research in animals, not a human trial. The review therefore says it did not establish ivermectin’s effectiveness in people or EU authorization for Covid-19.
The claim makes two assertions: that no one died of influenza in the 2020/21 season, and that influenza and Covid-19 have exactly the same symptoms. The review counters both. It reports that Germany’s Robert Koch Institute recorded 18 confirmed influenza deaths from calendar week 40 of 2020 onward. For comparison, it says the Institute recorded 547 deaths in the preceding season, running from calendar week 40 of 2019 to week 39 of 2020. The figures show a steep decline, not zero deaths. The review also gives a U.S. comparison, citing Scientific American: about 700 influenza deaths in 2020/21, compared with an estimated 22,000 in the preceding season. It addresses a social-media graphic associated with GISRS, the World Health Organization’s influenza surveillance system. According to the review, the graphic showed registered virus specimens, not deaths. Its scale made the curve appear to reach zero, while a WHO-system chart using a different scale showed a small number of influenza cases in the Northern Hemisphere. The review says pandemic precautions were a probable reason for the sharp reduction in infections. On symptoms, the review distinguishes similarity from identity. It says the illnesses share many features, but that loss of taste or smell—common with Covid-19—does not occur with influenza. It also reports that available data indicated Covid-19 was more likely to cause severe or fatal illness, and describes it as more contagious. Thus, the claim’s absolute wording is not supported: the review documents influenza deaths and explains why a graph could misleadingly suggest none, while identifying differences between the illnesses.

Publisher’s rating: Het bericht mist belangrijke context.
The claim concerned Germany’s Covid-19 vaccination campaign in general practices. It alleged that doctors were paid a “bounty” for reporting people who declined vaccination after counselling, and that a secret billing code sent their personal details onward despite medical confidentiality. The review examined the linked guidance from the Bavarian Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians on billing for vaccinations in doctors’ offices. That guidance covered payment not only for administering a vaccination but also for a consultation when no vaccination followed. The review says the rules for payment for consultation alone were set out in the federal regulation governing Covid-19 vaccinations. It also explains that the code mentioned in the post was a billing code used to identify a service for reimbursement, rather than a secret mechanism for reporting a patient’s decision. The review further distinguishes this billing process from ordinary claims to health insurers: Covid-19 vaccination services were billed through the Associations of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians, with the Federal Office for Social Security, under the Coronavirus Vaccination Ordinance. It reports that the information passed to the association was not personally identifiable, and cites the ordinance and additional requirements from the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians. The material therefore describes compensation for a consultation and a non-personal billing process, not payment for reporting an individual who refused vaccination.

The claim concerned a Facebook graphic that used figures from England’s Public Health England (PHE) to suggest that more vaccinated than unvaccinated people died after infection with the Delta variant. The review reports that the figures were broadly accurate, but says the graphic did not establish that vaccination increased an individual’s risk of dying. Its central comparison was counts of deaths by vaccination status, rather than the risk of death among vaccinated and unvaccinated people in comparable groups. The PHE figures covered 1 February through 29 August 2021: among 1,798 people who died after Delta infection, 1,091 were fully vaccinated and 536 had no vaccine protection. The review also records 142 cases without complete protection and 29 with unknown status. Those are counts among people who died; on their own, they do not compare each group’s likelihood of dying after infection. Age patterns further qualify the raw totals: among people under 50, the review reports 37 fully vaccinated deaths and 99 unvaccinated deaths; among those aged 50 or older, it reports 1,054 and 437, respectively. It notes that older and previously ill people faced greater risk of severe or fatal illness, and that people in these risk groups were vaccinated earlier, leaving a high vaccination share among them. The review’s conclusion is that vaccination reduced, but did not eliminate, the risk of severe or fatal illness.

The claims come from Dr. Dan Stock’s remarks to a Mount Vernon Community Schools meeting in Indiana on 6 August 2021. The review identifies the two claims at issue: that masks do not stop the virus and that vaccines caused the rise in infections. It assesses the mask claim by distinguishing between preventing every aerosol and reducing infection risk: mask effectiveness depends on the type of mask and how it is worn, and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control recommends masks as an additional measure to reduce the chance of infection. For the vaccine claim, the review examines Stock’s proposed explanation of antibody-dependent enhancement (ADE), in which antibodies bind to a virus in a way that worsens illness. It reports no evidence that ADE was occurring with coronavirus vaccines, noting that it had been a concern during vaccine development but that there was no indication it was happening. The review attributes the summer rise in cases instead to the highly contagious Delta variant and says vaccination had helped control infections, hospitalisations and deaths. The review also addresses Stock’s assertion that vaccinated people spread germs, which he illustrated with a mumps outbreak. It distinguishes live vaccines—which can involve viral shedding—from the coronavirus vaccines described in the review: mRNA vaccines are not live vaccines, while AstraZeneca and Janssen use a harmless cold virus as a vector, not coronavirus. The evidence presented therefore does not support extending the live-vaccine example to those coronavirus vaccines.

Yoel Razvozov made the claim in an August 17, 2021 radio interview about vaccinating teenagers: Israel, he said, was the only country in the world giving vaccines to people over 12. The Globes investigation distinguishes that claim from a later explanation by his spokesperson, who said he meant vaccines were more readily available in Israel. The spokesperson did not provide the requested evidence for that different assertion. To check whether Israel was alone, the investigation reviewed the chronology of approvals and vaccination programs. It reports that Canada approved Pfizer vaccination for ages 12–15 on May 5, 2021, before Israel began vaccinating teenagers in early June. The US FDA expanded authorization for ages 12–15 on May 10, and the CDC recommended vaccination two days later. By Razvozov’s August statement, the review says, France, Italy, Lithuania, Switzerland and New Zealand had also joined countries vaccinating people in this age range. Thus, the claim that Israel was the only country doing so is contradicted by the reported examples, and Israel was not first. The article also describes its comparison of vaccination uptake, not just approvals. It reports that, at the time examined, 49.4% of Israeli 12–15-year-olds had received a first dose and 34.8% a second, compared with 44.6% and 33.3% in the US. The review cautions that these figures cannot establish why uptake differed; in particular, they do not demonstrate that vaccine availability caused the difference. Its evidence addresses the stated claim about which countries were vaccinating teenagers, while treating the spokesperson’s separate claim about relative ease of access as unsubstantiated.
The claim concerned whether deaths reported after COVID-19 vaccination were being erased from EudraVigilance, the European database of suspected adverse-reaction reports. The review explains that reports are submitted to the European Medicines Agency by national regulators and pharmaceutical companies, and that the database records suspected reactions rather than establishing that a medicine caused them. This distinction matters: a reported death is not, by itself, proof that vaccination caused it. [S1]
