Publisher’s rating: FAUX
The claim came from a Facebook screenshot, apparently derived from a since-deleted tweet. It alleged that UZ Gent had seen five placental detachments in one week among vaccinated women between 25 and 28 weeks pregnant. The screenshot also described one woman undergoing a caesarean and her baby later dying from a brain haemorrhage. The hospital disputed the circulating account on Twitter on 21 September, saying it made no sense and that no known link had been established between vaccination and placental detachment. The review contacted Isabelle Dehaene, a gynaecologist and deputy head of UZ Gent’s women’s clinic. She said the hospital had treated four women with placental detachment over ten days, a frequency she described as unusual. That account supports that cases occurred, but not the screenshot’s specific total of five in one week. Dehaene said the hospital had not been able to establish a link with either Covid-19 or Covid-19 vaccines. The review also provides context missing from the viral claim: placental detachment is a rare, potentially serious pregnancy complication, and its cause is often unknown. It notes that intracranial bleeding can occur in newborns, especially after premature birth, and that the risk can increase in situations such as placental detachment. The review’s account therefore distinguishes the reported complications from evidence that vaccination caused them; it says no such link was established at the time.

The claim arose from a Facebook post in Belgium that pointed to a change on the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website and concluded that “gene injections” had become vaccines. The review examined both the wording change and the separate assertion that mRNA Covid-19 vaccines are gene therapies.
To get blood during emergency, send an SMS to 9600097000
Publisher’s rating: FALSE
The claim concerns a specific blood-information service: that someone needing blood in an emergency could text 9600097000. FACTLY’s review addresses that number and service directly, concluding that the SMS service for blood donation was no longer active. Its finding therefore does not establish that the service never existed; it distinguishes the service’s earlier operation from its status when the claim circulated. The review traces the number to a project started by Airtel and Jeevan Blood Bank in Chennai in 2008. It says the service was intended to provide information about blood availability. To support that history, the review cites a 2008 press release on Jeevan Blood Bank’s website, which described access to real-time stock information for tested blood components. The review’s conclusion is that this former service was not active for blood-donation enquiries at the time of its investigation.
The APA review concerns flyers distributed in front of schools in Vienna. It says the flyers warned of alleged dangers of COVID-19 vaccination and sharply criticized pandemic measures, and identifies the organization named on their logo as the association “Plattform Respekt.” The review says it examined the flyers’ main assertions; its conclusion is that they contain numerous false or misleading claims that could unsettle pupils. The article addresses specific claims rather than treating the flyers’ criticism as a single proposition. On vaccine approval, it says EU-authorized vaccines underwent the relevant testing phases and continue to be monitored, while describing the conditional authorization process and the roles of the European Medicines Agency and European Commission. On safety, it contrasts the flyer’s list of possible serious illnesses and its assertion that Austria lacked adequate data with regular reports by the Federal Office for Safety in Health Care. The excerpt says 149 people died in Austria in temporal proximity to vaccination and that a connection was then considered likely for two; it also says myocarditis was very rare. The review also disputes claims about fertility, the proportion of people supposedly not at risk from COVID-19, and the effectiveness of lockdowns. For the latter, it says the cited Stanford study compared stricter measures with less restrictive ones in some countries, rather than establishing that lockdowns were epidemiologically ineffective. The article further says the flyer’s mortality graphic mixes causes such as smoking and hospital-acquired infections with diseases, and reports that COVID-19 was Austria’s fourth most common cause of death in 2020, with more than 6,000 deaths. These details support the review’s assessment of the flyers’ claims; they do not establish that every statement on the flyers was assessed in the excerpt.
Publisher’s rating: Het bericht is gedeeltelijk fout.

The review concerns a video and accompanying caption claiming that Jean-Paul Théron was arrested by gendarmes in Tahiti for treating patients with ivermectin or hydroxychloroquine. It identifies the video as showing his forceful arrest on the morning of 20 September, but says the stated reason for the arrest was not his medical activity. According to the review, French Polynesia prosecutor Hervé Leroy said the investigation concerned ordinary criminal offences and explicitly said it was not for conduct related to Théron’s work as a doctor. The review reports that Théron was held in custody for two days, with the measure lifted on 21 September. The review describes a different sequence of events behind the arrest. On 16 September, Théron allegedly assaulted a process server who had come to deliver documents connected to disciplinary proceedings by the medical order. The process server filed a complaint; an investigation followed. Gendarmes later went to Théron’s home on 18 September to ask him to attend questioning. The prosecutor said Théron verbally abused the officers. The review says he was sent to trial in Papeete on 29 October on charges concerning violence against the process server and insults directed at gendarmes. Thus, the reported arrest footage is real, but the caption’s explanation of why he was arrested conflicts with the prosecutor’s stated basis and the case chronology described in the review.
Las vacunas contra el covid-19 causan disfunción eréctil
Publisher’s rating: No hay evidencias
The review examined the claim that COVID-19 vaccines cause erectile dysfunction after Nicki Minaj’s September 13 tweet reported that her cousin’s friend had become impotent and experienced swollen testicles after vaccination. The review notes that the tweet did not identify which vaccine the person allegedly received or explain what established a connection. It says the investigation consulted studies, health authorities and medical experts, and reports that experts and public-health officials did not find evidence that the vaccines cause erectile dysfunction. The review cites responses from officials and clinicians. Trinidad and Tobago’s health minister, Terrence Deyalsingh, said on September 15 that no reports of this side effect or adverse event were known to them. It also quotes Dr. Anthony Fauci responding to a question about Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines: he said there was no evidence of reproductive problems and no reason to expect them. These statements address the vaccine claim, but are not presented as results from a new clinical trial conducted by the review. The review distinguishes the vaccine allegation from preliminary research about COVID-19 infection itself. It describes an Italian study comparing 25 men who tested positive for COVID-19 with 75 who tested negative, and a much smaller U.S. pilot study involving two patients. The article says these findings suggested a possible association between infection and erectile dysfunction, while emphasizing that the research was preliminary and required further study. That qualification does not support attributing the condition to vaccination.
