The claim described a supposed French court case in which a wealthy man from Versailles died after a coronavirus vaccination, his insurer refused to pay his life-insurance benefit, and the court allegedly agreed that taking the vaccine was effectively suicide. The review found that the story circulated through two Dutch-language sites, Frontnieuws and Dissident. One, whose versions were nearly identical and derived from a German-language article. The review reports that the articles offered no identifiable court decision or case reference. The review traced the story’s purported support to social-media statements by lawyer Carlo Alberto Brusa and retired doctor Nicole Delépine. It says Delépine’s statements dated from March 2021, but found no social-media post by Brusa about the insurance story and no mention that he represented the supposed family. Brusa’s law office told the review he had nothing to do with the case and could not confirm or deny the information. The decisive evidence reported was the absence of a verifiable ruling and confirmation from insurance-sector representatives in both countries. A French insurance association spokesperson said insurers did not know of the alleged case and that a death after vaccination was not grounds to deny payment or treated as suicide; a Belgian insurers’ association spokesperson confirmed the same position for Belgium. The review also notes that an insurer must establish suicide for that exclusion to apply.

The review addresses a Facebook post claiming that oncologists warn of “turbo cancer” caused by mRNA vaccination. It reports that “Turbokrebs” is a lay term, not a recognized medical name, and that the German Society for Hematology and Medical Oncology (DGHO) had no entries for it; the society also declined to comment on the term when asked by dpa. The review says Google Scholar searches likewise found no use of the term in scientific articles. It traces the phrase to a lawyer speaking at a “Pathology Conference,” who acknowledged that it was his own invention and not medically established. (S1) The review finds no evidence of an increased rate of tumour findings following vaccination known to the DGHO. Marie von Lilienfeld-Toal, a Jena professor and DGHO working-group board member, told dpa that the experts found no increased rate of relapse. She said some cancers or recurrences may have been diagnosed later because the pandemic constrained healthcare, leaving some patients with more advanced disease; she explicitly said such cases were not caused by vaccination. The review adds that the DGHO recommends Covid-19 vaccination, including a booster, for cancer patients because they face particular risk from severe Covid-19, and states that the society lists no cancer-specific contraindications. (S1) The review also examines a study cited as evidence for “turbo cancer.” It describes one patient with AITL, a rare form of lymphoma, whose condition worsened in some respects after a BioNTech booster. The patient was also the study’s lead author, and the review says he proposed a possible link while calling for further research. It emphasizes that this single case does not establish that vaccination causes uncontrolled tumour disease; von Lilienfeld-Toal said it could not be generalized. (S1)
Publisher’s rating: De video is zeer misleidend geknipt.

The claim concerns a letter from Ärztekammer Nordrhein that circulated in Facebook posts and appeared to warn generally against booster vaccinations. The letter referred to a death and two resuscitations at a care home in Oberhausen after booster vaccinations. The review traces the letter to events in September 2021 and compares its account with subsequent statements from the chamber and the Kassenärztliche Vereinigung Nordrhein. The latter said the person who died was already receiving palliative care and was not among those vaccinated at the time. The review also reports that the chamber issued a correction two days after its September 7 notice: it said there had been no death following a booster vaccination at the home. The two resuscitations were reported, but the medical association said it had no information establishing that they were caused by the vaccinations. The chamber explained that its letter was meant to remind doctors to make individual decisions about booster vaccinations, not to issue a general warning.

The claim arose from a short clip of Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach speaking in the Bundesrat on 14 January 2022. In the clip, he says that Omicron would not end the pandemic and adds, “what we will prevent.” The review explains that the clip cuts off the rest of his sentence, leaving the object of “prevent” unclear. The omitted words matter: Lauterbach was discussing the possibility that all unvaccinated people might become infected with Omicron, not saying that the government would prevent the pandemic from ending. The fuller speech also contradicts the claim’s interpretation. Before the clipped passage, Lauterbach said Germany had the means to “largely end the pandemic in Germany this year.” He then argued that even if all unvaccinated people caught Omicron, that would not end the pandemic, because infection with Omicron offered little protection against future variants.

The claim arose during a Knesset Constitution Committee discussion on January 17, 2022. Gadi Yavarkan initially referred to California as a state with few restrictions and low mortality; after committee chair Gilad Kariv suggested he meant Florida, Yavarkan confirmed that correction. The review therefore assessed the claim as it applied to Florida, including both its restrictions and the assertion that its COVID-19 death rate was among the lowest in the United States. The review describes Florida as having relatively few restrictions and cites state measures restricting vaccine requirements and mask mandates, as well as a May 2021 law that limited local authorities’ ability to impose restrictions. But the mortality comparison did not support the broad claim. Using Worldometer data checked on January 17, 2022, the review reported about 2,937 deaths per million in Florida, ranking it 17th among the states and Washington, D.C., and above the national average of about 2,639 per million. It also cited Statista’s ranking, under which more than 60% of states had lower cumulative COVID-19 mortality than Florida. Yavarkan pointed to a report about Florida’s unusually low death rate over a seven-day period in early January. The review notes that this was a short-term measure, not evidence that Florida had low cumulative mortality: the cited report discussed possible reasons for the temporary pattern, including the state’s severe Delta wave, and warned that Florida’s death rate was beginning to rise again. The review’s conclusion rests on the contrast between that brief period and Florida’s higher cumulative death rate compared with most states.
