«Grüne wollen Ossis Wahlrecht entziehen» - diese Schlagzeile, eingebettet ins Layout von «bild.de», wird derzeit im Internet verbreitet.
Publisher’s rating: Bei dem angeblichen Artikel der «Bild» handelt es sich um Satire. Sie ist aber nicht sofort als solche zu erkennen.
The circulating item presents a «Bild»-styled headline claiming that the Greens wanted to take away East Germans’ voting rights. The dpa review says the image was misleadingly presented: it notes a small label in the upper-left corner reading «In Satira by Uwe Ostertag» and says the image apparently came from Ostertag, whom the review describes as a self-proclaimed troll who said he made such posts as satire. The label was easy to miss, so the layout could be mistaken for a genuine «Bild» article. [S1] The review also checked the claim attributed to Anton Hofreiter. It reports that he was a Green parliamentary group leader in the Bundestag, not a member of the party’s executive board, and therefore could not speak for that board. It further reports that Hofreiter had never called for East Germans to lose the right to vote, citing confirmation from a Green Party spokesperson to dpa. These points undermine both the post’s attribution and its central allegation. [S1]

Claim: BJP scam in EVM viral video
Publisher’s rating: FALSE
The review examines a viral video presented as showing that a voter pressed the elephant symbol but a vote was recorded for the lotus symbol. It says the post circulated in the Tamil Entertainment Facebook group with a caption claiming that, if this were how voting worked, the BJP could win thousands of seats. The review identifies the video itself—not a general allegation about electronic voting—as the subject of its investigation. [S1]

La Lega al Sud batte il Movimento 5 stelle ovunque tranne che in Sicilia e a Napoli.
Publisher’s rating: Pinocchio andante
Luca Zaia, governor of Veneto, said in a 28 May 2019 interview that the Lega had beaten the Five Star Movement across the South except in Sicily and Naples. The review checks that claim against the results of the European elections held on 26 May 2019. It says it used election results from the five electoral constituencies and its own breakdowns of Ministry of the Interior data for provinces and cities. The overall constituency results already contradict the claim: in both the Southern Italy constituency and the islands, the Lega finished behind the Five Star Movement. The regional and local figures show why the claim’s broad wording is misleading. Among southern regions, the Lega placed first only in Abruzzo, while the Five Star Movement finished ahead of it in Molise, Puglia, Campania, Basilicata and Calabria. In the islands, the Lega won Sardinia, but that did not mean it led across the island constituency. At province level in southern Italy, it won 10 of 24 provinces; it finished behind the Five Star Movement in the others except Naples province, where it placed third. In the island provinces, it placed first in five of 14, second in five and third in four. The review also looks at provincial capitals, distinguishing city results from province-wide ones. The Lega won six of the 24 capitals in southern Italy, including the four in Abruzzo, Lecce and Vibo Valentia; the Five Star Movement won in the regional capitals of Naples, Bari, Campobasso, Potenza and Catanzaro. In the island capitals, the Lega won only Oristano and placed third in eight of the other 13. Thus, the exceptions were not limited to Sicily and Naples: the review reports numerous places where the Five Star Movement finished ahead, while also documenting areas where the Lega did win.

Claim: EVMs-seized from a labour colony in Bijapur
Publisher’s rating: FALSE
The review investigated posts circulating after the 2019 parliamentary vote that presented a video of EVM-related equipment in a workers’ hut in Bijapur as evidence of a recent seizure, and linked it to an allegation that election officials had secured Narendra Modi’s victory. The review says the video that prompted the investigation was posted on May 23, 2019, and that another post identified the location as Bijapur, Karnataka, and described EVMs and VVPAT machines being found in workers’ accommodation. The review’s conclusion was that the footage was old, not evidence of a seizure during the 2019 parliamentary election. [S1]
Did people in USA celebrate Modi's victory
Publisher’s rating: FALSE
The claim concerned a viral video said to show people in the United States celebrating Narendra Modi’s victory in India’s 2019 Lok Sabha election. The review says the video was not filmed in the USA and was not a celebration of Modi’s win; it identifies the footage as a 2018 street performance by Swargandhar, a Mumbai-based Puneri Dhol Tasha group, during a tour in Spain. The review describes a frame-by-frame investigation: The Quint used InVID to analyze the video, then reverse-searched its frames on Yandex. That led to a post titled “Dhol Tasha on the streets of Spain (2)- Swargandhar Dhol Tasha Pathak.” Searches on YouTube using the group’s name and related terms also led to a video published by Swargandhar. The source further reports that the group attended an International Folk Festival in Spain in June 2018. Its founder, Prasad Pimpale, told The Quint that the viral footage came from one of the group’s street performances. The review also notes that “स्वरगंधार” is visible on the drums in the video. Taken together, the identified group, Spain-tour provenance and founder’s account contradict the claim that the footage shows a US celebration of Modi’s victory.

Sono contento che il Nordest sia la sola circoscrizione in cui il Pd guadagni voti.
Publisher’s rating: Vero
The claim concerns Carlo Calenda’s assessment of the Democratic Party’s results in the 2019 European elections. The review says he made the statement in a May 28, 2019 interview with La Stampa, and frames the question as whether the PD had gained votes only in the Northeast. The comparison made in the review’s main analysis is with the previous year’s Italian general election: it says the party took 6,176,325 votes nationally in March 2018 and that the reviewers used Interior Ministry data to compare results across the five European-election constituencies. That comparison found just one constituency where the PD did not lose votes: the Northeast. There, its preferences increased by more than 2 percent, while votes fell in each of the other four constituencies. The review gives examples of those declines: 17,402 fewer votes in the Northwest and 28,646 fewer in the Islands. On the evidence presented, Calenda’s claim that the Northeast alone gained votes is supported when “gained” means compared with the 2018 general election. There is an inconsistency in the review’s closing wording: its verdict refers to a comparison with the March 2014 general election, although its preceding analysis identifies the comparison as the March 2018 election. The figures and method described in that analysis support the claim on the 2018 comparison; the excerpt does not explain the discrepancy. The review’s verdict is “Vero.”
