通勤手当にあらたに課税?

Publisher’s rating: 誤り

The review addresses posts claiming that the Japanese government was considering newly taxing commuting allowances. It traces the viral claim to a May 27, 2025 post on X linking to a JapanNewsNavi article, and notes that the post had been reposted more than 16,000 times and viewed over 6.14 million times by June 5. The review says similar claims also circulated on YouTube and TikTok. The key distinction is between existing tax rules and a new policy proposal. According to the review, commuting allowances are already within the tax system, but public-transport commuting allowances up to a monthly limit of ¥150,000 are exempt; only the amount above that limit is taxable. The review gives an illustration: assuming 22 commuting days per month, about ¥6,800 per day falls within the exemption. It therefore explains why saying allowances are already subject to tax does not establish that the government is proposing a new tax affecting ordinary commuters. The post’s cited parliamentary discussion also does not establish a new tax proposal. The review describes a March 18, 2025 House of Councillors Budget Committee exchange in which Constitutional Democratic Party lawmaker Kyoko Murata asked whether commuting allowances should be excluded from remuneration when calculating social insurance contributions. It says the article cited by the post discussed the Health Ministry’s view that allowances count as remuneration; that is a social-insurance calculation issue, not evidence that the government was considering newly taxing the allowance. The review concludes that, as of June 4, 2025, there was no fact that the government was considering new taxation.

Publisher’s rating: MISLEADING

The review says the RBI did not direct banks to stop dispensing ₹500 notes through ATMs. It says the RBI instead instructed banks and White Label ATM Operators to configure 75% of ATMs to dispense ₹100 or ₹200 notes from at least one cassette by 30 September 2025, with the target rising to 90% by 31 March 2026.
