Indian meat exporting company Al Kabeer Exports Pvt. Ltd. is a Hindu-owned company, and no Muslim has a share in it

Publisher’s rating: MISLEADING

The claim concerns the ownership of the Indian meat-exporting company Al Kabeer Exports Pvt. Ltd., asserting that it is Hindu-owned and has no Muslim shareholders. FACTLY’s investigation distinguishes the company from the wider Al Kabeer group: it reports that the group began in the 1970s as a 50:50 partnership between the Subberwal and Ghulam Shaikh families, but that Ghulamuddin M. Sheikh later became the owner of the Indian company. This evidence contradicts the claim that the company is Hindu-owned and has no Muslim share. The review says it searched for information about the company, consulted an Economic Times article about the group’s founding, and checked the company’s website and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs’ website. It reports that the company’s website identified Ghulamuddin M. Shaikh as owner of Al Kabeer Exports Pvt. Ltd. The MCA listing named six directors, including Shabbir Amir Shaik, Asif Ghulamuddin Shaikh, Arshad Salar Siddiqui and Altaf Ghulamuddin Shaikh. The review also notes that the Hyderabad slaughterhouse was under the charge of Asif Ghulamuddin and Arshad Siddiqui. Its evidence therefore supports the finding that the specific Indian company was owned by a Muslim family; it does not treat the group’s original joint partnership as proof that the company remained jointly owned.

L'entreprise Griesemann a travaillé pour Nord Stream.

Publisher’s rating: Rien n’indique que le groupe Griesemann entretient ou ait entretenu des relations commerciales avec Nord Stream. Un porte-parole a nié tout lien.

The claim concerned whether the German Griesemann group had worked on the Nord Stream pipelines. The dpa review examined the allegation in the wake of the September 2022 Nord Stream leaks and amid online speculation linking the pipelines to the crash of an aircraft belonging to entrepreneur Peter Griesemann. The review says that the crash occurred in the Baltic Sea and that, as of its account, no survivors had been found. [S1]

Punjab tops the list of states in the foreign inward remittances category, whereas Gujarat stands first in having the greatest number of Fugitive Economic offenders.

Publisher’s rating: MISLEADING

The claim combines two assertions: that Punjab ranks first among states for foreign inward remittances, and that Gujarat has the greatest number of Fugitive Economic Offenders. The review checks the remittance assertion against the RBI’s report for 2020–21 and examines whether the government’s list of Fugitive Economic Offenders is organized by the states people belong to. The review says the RBI report places Maharashtra first, with 35.2% of total remittances, while Punjab is ninth, with 3%. Those figures directly contradict the claim about Punjab’s ranking. For the offenders assertion, the review says the government has not categorized the people on the list by state of origin. It therefore finds no state-by-state figures in the material it describes that would establish Gujarat as having the most offenders. The review gives examples that illustrate why assigning people on the list to a single state may not be straightforward: it says Vijay Mallya was born in West Bengal and was elected twice to the Rajya Sabha from Karnataka, and describes Nilesh Parekh as a Kolkata-based businessman who went offshore after facing a ₹7,000 crore default. The review also notes that Punjab was not the leading state in the previous data for 2016–17. Overall, its evidence disproves the remittance ranking and says the government’s offender list does not provide the state-based categorization needed to substantiate the Gujarat ranking. The supplied excerpt does not provide the underlying RBI report or a state-by-state offender count, so the account of those checks is limited to what the review reports.

オーストラリア・マレーシアが日本向けLNG輸出を「ストップ」した

Publisher’s rating: 誤り

The review examined a social-media post claiming that Malaysia had stopped natural-gas exports to Japan; an attached chart marked Australia and Malaysia with crosses, implying that both had halted LNG exports. The review compared that claim with reporting and information it attributes to Japan’s Ministry of Finance trade statistics, NHK, and other news organizations. It notes that Australia and Malaysia were Japan’s two largest LNG suppliers in 2020, accounting for about 40% and 13% of imports, respectively. The evidence described for Australia contradicts the claim that it had stopped exports: although the government had considered export controls amid concern about domestic supply, gas companies agreed to prioritize domestic supply, and the government said in late September that overseas supply would not be affected. The review says the proposed restrictions were avoided. Malaysia faced a real supply disruption, but the review distinguishes that incident from a complete halt to exports to Japan. A Petronas subsidiary declared force majeure after a gas leak attributed to a landslide, potentially relieving it of supply obligations. The review says the impact on Japan and the quantities involved were still being assessed, and reports no information that gas supply had completely stopped. It also cites Bloomberg’s report, based on a trader’s account, that the subsidiary asked to reduce contracted deliveries to some Japanese customers toward year-end—evidence of a possible reduction, not a total cutoff.

イオンでATM、クレジットカードが使えなくなる

Publisher’s rating: 不正確

The review says Aeon Bank planned a temporary suspension of ATMs, online banking, and in-store reception from October 7 to 11, 2022, but Aeon card credit payments would remain available. It also reports that the bank said the system upgrade was for service improvements and denied a connection to the alleged global banking developments.

Das ist ein Gewinnspiel von Spar.

Publisher’s rating: Das Gewinnspiel ist nicht echt, die Seite hat nichts mit der Handelskette Spar zu tun.

The claim concerns a Facebook giveaway presented as being run by Spar. The investigation examined a page called “Spar Fans” and found signs that it was impersonating the supermarket chain, rather than operating an official promotion. The page had no legally required imprint or contact details; its information section listed only “Immobilien,” and its transparency information showed that it had been created on September 27, 2022. The purported giveaway was posted that same day, was the page’s only post, and was due to end on October 1. The page had 39 likes and 102 followers. [S1] The review also checked the images used to promote the giveaway. It traced some to genuine Spar material, including a photo from a 2020 store opening in Buje, Croatia, and one from a 2021 press release about the “Too Good To Go” campaign in eastern Austria. But other images showed food packages from the United States, including products from Idaho Spuds, and boxes bearing the Salvation Army logo that also appeared on the website of its local Williamsport, Pennsylvania, branch. The mix of recycled images did not establish that the page or giveaway was official. [S1] As a comparison, the review described Spar Austria’s actual Facebook page as verified, with an imprint, contact information, and more than 358,000 followers. It said official promotions clearly communicate their closing date and participation terms, and that Spar itself had warned about fake giveaways. Taken together, the page’s missing identifying information, its recent creation and limited activity, and the reused images support the conclusion that the giveaway was not a genuine Spar promotion. "So we're providing the biggest cost of living increase in 30 years to pensioners, carers, JobSeekers, single parents, students & more. Labor cares."

Publisher’s rating: Misleading

The claim concerned Labor senator Murray Watt’s statement that the September 2022 adjustment to welfare payments was the “biggest cost of living increase in 30 years,” and that Labor was providing it. The review says the adjustment followed the Department of Social Services’ release of new indexation rates and applied on September 20. It asked whether recipients’ cost of living had improved and whether Labor could take credit for the change. S1 states that the adjustment was “a routine increase designed to ensure payments keep pace with the cost of living.” The review explains that indexation is automatic every six months and is intended to maintain payments’ real value, rather than increase recipients’ purchasing power. It quotes the Parliamentary Library’s description: “Payment rates are indexed to maintain their real value — so they have the same purchasing power as costs of living increase.” The review also cites expert assessments that the large nominal rise reflected high inflation; it reports that Brendan Coates described it as the latest in a long-running indexing process and said JobSeeker had to rise substantially “just for the purchasing power” to be maintained. To assess the comparison with the preceding 30 years, Fact Check says it analysed Department of Social Services historical payment-rate data, including pension, unemployment, parenting and rent-assistance rates, and data supplied for ABSTUDY. It distinguishes routine indexation from one-off increases above inflation or other indexation factors. The review gives examples of such additional measures, including a 1993 rent-assistance increase made “over and above any indexation adjustment,” and a 1994 Newstart increase on top of indexation. Those examples show why describing the routine 2022 adjustment as an exceptional cost-of-living boost omitted relevant history.
