The claim concerns a social-media promotion promising a €500 Albert Heijn voucher to people who correctly count the cats in an image. The review says the prize was supposedly for the first ten correct answers, but concludes that the offer was not genuine. It describes the promotion as online fraud rather than a real supermarket giveaway. The review points to several features of the Facebook page that hosted the offer. Its name was “Albert- Heijn - Fans.”, it had no verification badge, and it had existed only since 28 August 2023, with nine likes and the giveaway as its sole post. The review contrasts this with Albert Heijn’s authentic Facebook page, which it says had existed since 2012, had more than half a million likes, multiple posts and a verification badge. The review also examined where the promotion led. It describes a registration page with an unprofessional-looking collage of Albert Heijn images and an address beginning “sites.google”; clicking a prominent registration button led to another website with a pop-up. The review says this route could be seeking personal information and advises against clicking such links when a site is not trusted. Taken together, the described page and registration path led the review to identify the offer as phishing.
