รวมคลืปวิดีโอสภาพอากาศที่รุนแรงในฟิลิปปินส์

Publisher’s rating: Altered

The review investigates a viral video presented as showing current weather in the Philippines in September. It describes the compilation as containing tornadoes, a cyclone, heavy rain and lightning, and says it circulated on Facebook and WhatsApp. The central question was whether these scenes showed weather occurring in the Philippines at that time. [The review describes posts] with the claim that the video showed “สภาพอากาศปัจจุบันในฟิลิปปินส์ในเดือนกันยายน” and says the video included “คลิปพายุทอร์นาโดที่รุนแรง พายุไซโคลน ฝนตกหนัก และฟ้าผ่า.” To check the footage, the review reports tracing several scenes to other sources and locations. It says footage in the first 10 seconds came from a weather-disaster video channel; the underlying 2016 recording was made at Jacksonville Beach, Florida, during Hurricane Matthew, and did not show the tornado added in the viral version. Another clip came from an Andover, Kansas, tornado in May 2022, and another showed a storm in China’s Taihang Mountain Grand Canyon, Shanxi. These examples indicate that the compilation combined footage from different places and events rather than documenting one current situation in the Philippines. The review also says it checked the Philippine government’s official weather agency for September. According to the article, it found no cyclone alert or report of the extreme weather depicted in the viral video. Taken together, the traced origins of the clips and the reported absence of corresponding official weather reports undermine the video’s presentation as current Philippine conditions. The review concludes that the compilation used unrelated footage, including material from past events, and was edited to mislead viewers about the situation.
