Publisher’s rating:

The claim said that the Libyan International Hospital was on fire with patients inside. The review examined a video circulated as showing a fire on Venice Street in Benghazi, without giving its original date. It traced the footage to its uploader, Ashour Akrem, and reported that he had posted it on TikTok on August 10, 2023, identifying the location as the Libyan International Hospital. The review therefore links the circulated video to a real fire at the hospital, rather than to an unrelated incident. The review says the hospital confirmed that a fire occurred there on August 10, 2023, and that there were no human losses. It also reports a later hospital post saying the fire was brought under control and everyone was evacuated without any human losses. This supports that a hospital fire did occur and that people were evacuated, but it does not establish that patients were still inside at the time represented by the circulated video. The important qualification is the video’s timing: although it was circulated without its original date, the review traces it to footage posted on August 10. Thus, the footage documents an earlier fire, not a newly occurring one. The supplied excerpt does not provide further detail about the patients’ precise location or condition during the incident.

The claim was attached to a video showing houses burning near West Kelowna, British Columbia, during the McDougall Creek Wildfire. The review says the footage does show houses destroyed in that fire, but it does not establish that trees were untouched across the fire area. The fire began on August 15, 2023, and covered 139 square kilometres. The review’s central distinction is between what is visible in this particular clip and what happened in the wider wildfire.
