Vídeo del apuñalamiento de un hombre en Barcelona

Publisher’s rating: Falso

The claim concerned a video circulated as showing a man being stabbed in Barcelona. Newtral’s investigation concluded that the footage was recorded in Moscow, not in El Raval. It reports that Barcelona city officials confirmed the video was not filmed in Barcelona, and that a reverse-image search found the same footage in Russian media reports. Those reports placed the fight at Solntsevo metro station on 14 July and said the victim, identified as Yuri M., was 35 and survived.

Claim: Dalit children attacked for entering the street

Publisher’s rating: FALSE

The review investigated a social-media post showing two boys tied to a tree, with portions of their hair shaved. The post claimed they were Dalit children punished for entering a street, but did not identify when or where the incident occurred or provide further information about the boys. The review used reverse-image searching to trace the photograph and found that it had circulated online since 2016 with conflicting captions assigning the incident to Bangladesh, Myanmar, or Nepal, and offering different explanations for the boys’ treatment. The review also consulted another fact-check about the same image, which had examined a rumor that the boys were attacked after asking for temple offerings in Andhra Pradesh. That investigation did not establish the photograph’s true origin either. The review reports that some 2016 posts and other reports described the boys as being in Bangladesh and attacked for stealing food, but says it found no independent evidence confirming that account. Its conclusion is therefore that the specific claim about Dalit boys being attacked for entering a street is false—not that the review conclusively established where the photograph was taken or what happened to the boys.
