網傳影片宣稱「影片中的年輕人,就是LWKS患者...正常人不會帶著小刀去附近商店買東西...現今隨機殺人or傷人案件頻傳,大家要小心...」?
Publisher’s rating: 錯誤
The review investigated a circulating video said to show a young man with “LWKS,” accompanied by claims that people should fear such patients and take precautions against random attacks. It traced the video to a 2018 supermarket robbery in Gaobu Town, Dongguan, Guangdong, rather than an incident in Taiwan. The investigation reports that a shop owner subdued the man during the robbery, and that surveillance footage of the encounter spread online in China. To identify the footage, the fact-check center searched using screenshots from the video and found reports by CCTV.com and Dongguan News about the same incident. It also examined People’s Daily reporting and a statement posted by the Gaobu Public Security Bureau’s official WeChat account. The review says none of these accounts identified the suspect as having a mental illness; the police statement described the robbery and the response, but did not make that diagnosis. This absence does not establish the suspect’s medical history, but the cited coverage does not support the video’s asserted diagnosis. The review also consulted two psychiatrists about “LWKS.” One said it is not a formal medical diagnostic term, and the other said he had not heard of it and that it is not a medical theory. Taken together, the review’s findings undermine the post’s presentation of this particular Chinese robbery video as evidence about a Taiwanese mental-health patient or a recognized diagnosis.

【錯誤】多家媒體報導「泰警逮捕違反宵禁的斑貓」、「泰國警方逮捕一隻貓 指其違反外出禁令」?

The review examined reports claiming that Thai police arrested a tabby cat for breaking a curfew or movement ban. It concluded that Taiwanese media had treated an online joke as a real event. The Thai fact-checking group Sure And Share told the Taiwan FactCheck Center that Thailand had no curfew rules for pets, and that Thai media had not reported such an arrest. The group’s representative also identified the cited TCNN Network Facebook page as a community outlet that shared entertainment and humorous posts as well as news; he translated a sentence in the post as an invitation to “relax and have fun.” The review traced the images to sources inconsistent with a real arrest. Using reverse-image searches, it found that the supposed “cat criminal” portrait had been online since at least 2016 and matched photographs listed on Adobe Stock and Shutterstock, where users could replace the text. A second image, showing a police officer with a cat, came from the Thai Facebook page แมวโรงพัก, which shared pictures of a cat kept at the Bangsue police station. That page had posted the image on July 16, 2019, and later said it had been reused as a meme, not documented a real incident. Taken together, the review’s evidence addresses both the alleged event and the images used to support it: the reported post was presented as humor, Thailand had no pet curfew, and the photographs had pre-existing, non-arrest origins. The review therefore found that media reports presenting the story as an actual police arrest were misleading.

Video of women jumping from a building after being locked by the Police for shopping during the lockdown
Publisher’s rating: FALSE
The claim concerns a video presented as showing women jumping from a building after police locked them inside a shop for shopping during lockdown. FACTLY reports that the footage was old, filmed in Karachi, Pakistan, and unrelated to the lockdown. It also says the location was Khadda Market, Karachi, based on shop names visible in the video and a Google Maps search: “the location in the video can be found in the Khadda Market (Karachi).” The review describes several checks of the footage’s provenance. It found a post by the Pakistani news agency Karachi Today using the same video and identifying it as old footage from Khadda Market. FACTLY also reports that reverse-image searches of video screenshots located the same video on YouTube and Facebook in 2015. Those posts used the title “Sex workers fleeing after FIA raid at a brothel in Karachi,” providing a substantially different context from the lockdown-shopping claim. Taken together, the reported location and earlier online appearances support the review’s conclusion that the video predates and is unrelated to the lockdown. The review does not establish from the excerpt the precise date the footage was filmed, or independently detail the circumstances of the incident beyond the historical title it found. The evidence it describes therefore challenges the claim’s asserted lockdown setting and explanation for the women’s actions.
