Akhilesh Yadav had signed a petition in the past seeking commutation of Ajmal Kasab’s death sentence
Publisher’s rating: FALSE
The claim is that Akhilesh Yadav signed a petition asking for Ajmal Kasab’s death sentence to be commuted. FACTLY’s review says it found no evidence that he did. It reports that several websites and blogs published lists of people who signed a petition to the President seeking Kasab’s pardon, but Yadav’s name does not appear in those lists. The review also says it found no news reports of statements by Yadav about Kasab’s sentence.

The claim suggests that people can help locate a kidnapped child by responding to requests for information. The review examined Facebook posts soliciting tips about alleged abductions in Templin and Zwickau, and found that the posts were not evidence of real, ongoing cases: the investigation describes both alleged abductions as fabricated. Its findings concern those specific posts and cases, rather than every request for help involving a missing child. For Templin, the post linked to an article claiming that an abduction had occurred on December 9, 2021, at 10 a.m. The review compared that claimed incident time with an archived version of the webpage dated December 5, which was already online beforehand. It also reports that Brandenburg police had, in late November, described a false report with the same content. Together, those details contradict the post’s chronology and support the finding that the reported Templin abduction was false. For Zwickau, the review traced the Facebook preview image to a feature film about child abductions released in 2019, so it could not depict a 2021 abduction. It also checked the linked page: it imitated Facebook, asked users to enter their age, and used a URL that changed the displayed place name when the location in the URL was changed. The review therefore found that the posts used fabricated material and a deceptive page, not evidence that a child had been abducted in Zwickau. The review also warns that such pages may seek personal information, including email addresses. That warning is relevant to the apparent request for help: users should not assume the page is a genuine appeal or submit personal data simply because it presents itself as one. The evidence presented is specific to these Templin and Zwickau posts.

Asaf Ali, a Muslim argued on behalf of Bhagat Singh ; Rai Bahadur Suryavamsham Sharma, an RSS member represented the British empire and pleaded death sentence for Bhagat Singh
Publisher’s rating: MISLEADING
The post combines events from two different cases to assert that Asaf Ali argued for Bhagat Singh while Rai Bahadur Suryavamsham Sharma, described as an RSS member, argued for the British and sought Bhagat Singh’s death. The review distinguishes the 1929 Central Legislative Assembly bombing trial, which ended with life sentences, from the Lahore conspiracy case concerning the killing of Assistant Superintendent Saunders, for which Bhagat Singh and two others were sentenced to death. For the Assembly case, the review says the digitised judgment identifies Asaf Ali as counsel for Bhagat Singh and Batukeshwar Dutt, and Rai Bahadur Suraj Narain as the Crown’s public prosecutor. It also notes a qualification from legal scholar A.G. Noorani: in his account, Ali represented Dutt, while Bhagat Singh fought his own case with legal advice. The review therefore does not treat the Assembly case as evidence that the named prosecutor sought a death sentence in the Saunders case. For the Saunders case, the review says the judgment identifies Lala Duni Chand as advising Bhagat Singh and Mr. Noad as the Crown prosecutor; it also says the judgment does not name Suryavamsham Sharma. The review reports that it found no substantial evidence linking Suraj Narain to the RSS or to its founding member Hedgewar. Thus, the post’s account conflates the cases and does not substantiate the claimed identity and RSS connection of the prosecutor in the death-sentence case.

Video of men brutally thrashing women in Rajasthan
Publisher’s rating: FALSE
The claim concerned a video said to show men brutally thrashing women in Rajasthan. FACTLY identifies the footage as an incident in Bhatgawan village, in the Gauriganj Police Station area of Amethi, Uttar Pradesh. It reports that the women were a mother and daughter, and that they were beaten while protesting the grabbing of their land. The review describes a reverse image search of screenshots from the video. That search found a video with similar visuals in a local journalist’s tweet, posted on 18 November 2021. The journalist described a mother and daughter being beaten while opposing a land grab in Bhatgawan. Amethi Police replied to the tweet, saying that a case had been registered at Gauriganj Police Station and legal action was being taken. The police response refers to the case as dated 15 November 2021. The review distinguishes this footage from a separate land-dispute incident in Rajasthan. In that other incident, a woman was seen trying to attack a JCB and was reportedly assaulted. The similar setting and subject matter do not make that Rajasthan footage the video in the claim; the review’s described search and location details connect the claimed video to the Amethi incident.
