First, it ran a reverse image search on keyframes from the viral video and found the same video uploaded to Josh App by a user named Akhilesh Parjpatie with the caption “Har Har Mahadev.” The review contrasts that provenance with later reposts that presented the footage as punishment for rapists. It also says the review searched for information about the event and identified the practice as part of Charak Puja. The decisive context is the ritual described in the review: a selected group of worshippers are strung on hooks and swung by rope from a wooden pole in a devotional act intended to satisfy Lord Shiva. The review further notes that Charak Puja is observed on the last day of the month of Chaitra and is predominantly observed in West Bengal and Southern Bangladesh. This explains why the footage shows people suspended during a procession; it does not support the claim that they are rapists being punished.

FACTLY’s review identifies the man as Mustaq Ahmed and reports that he was a resident of Karachi, Pakistan—not India. It says media reports described him as having sexually assaulted his adult daughter while her husband was away at work; after she complained, Ahmed was arrested. The video therefore depicts an incident in Pakistan, while the post’s assertion that the man was Indian is misleading. The review describes how it traced the video’s setting: the man says in the video that he is from “Shah Town,” which the review says is in Karachi. Following that clue, the reviewers searched for news reports about the incident and found the same video uploaded by the 4News Pakistan Facebook page on 21 October 2022. The review also points to a City News HD Plus bulletin posted the next day, which briefly reports the incident. Those reports, as summarized by FACTLY, identify the accused as Mustaq Ahmed and say his daughter eventually lodged a complaint after he threatened her to keep silent. Thus, the review does not dispute that the video shows a man admitting to the crime described. Its key correction is the claimed nationality and location: the evidence presented places the man and the incident in Karachi, Pakistan, rather than India.
