“Polonia atacó primero a Bielorrusia anticipándose a la amenaza rusa”.

Publisher’s rating: Falso

The claim concerns a Facebook video published on July 24, 2023, which said Poland had already attacked Belarus to get ahead of a Russian threat. The review found the video’s own narration did not report a completed attack: it spoke instead of Poland supposedly preparing or planning an operation. The review describes the title as clickbait because the narration contradicted its implication that an attack had happened. The review also reports that its Google News searches in English and Spanish found no reporting of a Polish attack on Belarus. It contrasts the claim with events it says were reported in the days before the video: Poland sent more troops to its border after Wagner members appeared on the Belarusian side, and Russian President Vladimir Putin warned Warsaw that aggression against Belarus would be treated as an attack on Russia. At a July 23 meeting, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said Wagner members had wanted to move toward Poland and that he had stopped them. These details describe heightened tension and threats, not a completed Polish attack. On the evidence described, the headline’s assertion of an actual Polish attack was unsupported and contradicted by the video’s own wording. The review concluded that tension and warnings existed, but no real aggression had occurred by the time of its verification.

Video of terrorist caught in Srinagar, J&K

Publisher’s rating: FALSE

The claim attached the video of police pursuing and kicking a biker to the capture of a terrorist in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. NewsMeter describes the footage and the social-media caption, which praised the officer and labelled the biker a terrorist. Its investigation concluded that the video did not show an arrest in Srinagar, but an older incident in Brazil. NewsMeter says it first searched for recent reports about a militant or terrorist arrest in Srinagar and found none. It then extracted keyframes from the viral video and ran reverse-image searches. Those searches led investigators to an earlier appearance of the same footage on a Spanish-language website and to a Daily Motion upload, both predating the viral claim. The review also found a report dated August 2, 2021, from obemdito.com that used the same video and identified the scene as a teenager falling from his motorcycle in downtown Pérola, Brazil, after colliding with a police car. The account says police restrained him when he tried to flee. This matching older footage, and its Brazilian setting, contradict the claim that the video showed a terrorist caught in Srinagar.
