The review examined a Facebook collage showing Ukrainian soldiers and swastikas. It found that the collage’s upper image, which showed military vehicles, had been manipulated: the original photograph contained no swastika. Thus, that image does not substantiate the claim that Ukrainian soldiers used the symbol. For the collage’s other photos, the review found no indications that they were fakes, but it did not establish that they were authentic. The review says they could also have been altered to create a misleading impression. Its findings therefore identify a demonstrably manipulated image while leaving the authenticity of the others unresolved; the collage as a whole does not prove the claim.

Image shows TTP releasing Pakistan Army soldiers held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Publisher’s rating: FALSE

The claim concerned a circulating image said to show Pakistani Army soldiers recently captured by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and then released. NewsMeter’s review says the image was shared in that context, including by a verified X user whose caption described it as showing captured soldiers released by TTP. The review’s finding was that the image was old, rather than evidence of the recent incident. To investigate, NewsMeter reports conducting a reverse image search. It found the same image featured with other images on Defence Forum India, dated April 1, 2017. The review also found the image on Facebook in 2017, accompanied by a Pashto caption that it says roughly translated as referring to Pakistani soldiers captured by the Afghan Taliban and police. These earlier appearances establish that the image predated the recent event claimed in the posts, and that the older caption did not describe TTP releasing soldiers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. NewsMeter additionally found the image on The Brorant blog, alongside an article it characterized as ridiculing Pakistan and its policies. However, the review says it could not identify the image’s original source. Its conclusion is therefore specifically that the image is not from the recent clash—not that the investigation established exactly when, where, or whom the photograph originally depicts.

La OTAN activó el artículo 5 debido a “una fuga en la planta de Zaporiyia”, en Ucrania.

Publisher’s rating: Falso

The claim concerned social-media posts saying NATO had invoked Article 5 because of a leak at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant in Ukraine. The review reports that the video behind the claim did not establish either event: although its title asserted that a leak had triggered Article 5, its narration presented only a hypothetical scenario. The review also states that no reports confirmed a leak at the plant.
