It checked the Mexican Defense Ministry’s press section, the U.S. Marines’ news section, the Tamaulipas security authority’s X timeline, and the state government’s Facebook page. Those checks found no information supporting the invasion claim. The Mexican Navy also told the review by email that it had no knowledge of the alleged invasion. The consulate message referred to violence in Matamoros, not evidence of a U.S. military incursion. It was posted on September 4, 2023, when alleged criminals and Mexican Navy personnel had an armed confrontation. The review therefore distinguished the real security incident and ambiguous helicopter footage from the video’s unsupported conclusion that U.S. Marines had invaded Tamaulipas.
