The World Bank denied recommending that anyone abolish agriculture and instead called for more investment in the sector, including in high-income countries. Its report discusses reducing food-system emissions to net zero by 2050, not ending agriculture by 2030.

Publisher’s rating: Enganoso

The review says the video shows a clip of Romanian parliamentarian Cristian Terheş speaking during an April 2023 European Parliament debate on an IPCC report. It finds the post misleading: although Terheş cites CO2 as 0.041% of the atmosphere, the review says the small proportion does not mean the gas is unimportant to global warming.

The review finds that the two photos are unrelated: the barren landscape is the “Dead Forest” near Russia’s Tolbachik volcano, not a landscape without CO2. It says the area was devastated by the volcano’s June 1975 eruption, and notes that plants need CO2 but human-caused emissions harm nature.

The review says there is no evidence for the alleged research or WEF demand, and reports that a WEF spokesperson called the claims fabricated. It also says the story appears to have originated with The People’s Voice and that no connection between the named researcher, the WEF, and eating excrement could be found.

Melting of Ice does not contribute to sea level rise

Publisher’s rating: Misleading

Related reporting distinguishes between types of ice: melting sea ice does not contribute to sea-level rise, while Greenland’s ice-sheet loss does. A climate scientist quoted in the Greenland reporting said its ice loss from 2002 to 2024 contributed roughly 1.5 centimetres of sea-level rise.
