The claim
The video shows an Iranian military general confessing that he betrayed Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, before dying by suicide during a live broadcast.
Original review summary
The review says the claim is unsupported and the footage is unrelated to an Iranian military official. It traces the same video to a 2024 post identifying the man as Zahir Amini, a Kurdish resident, and describing his death by suicide during an Instagram livestream.[S1]
Additional context
The review says Rojhelat News posted the video on October 15, 2024, with a caption identifying the man as Zahir Amini and stating that he died during an Instagram livestream. [S1]
