The claim
The UK Government is providing all the funding for a £600 million upgrade of the Mini plant in Oxford to produce new electric vehicles, while there is no extra money for the NHS.
Original publisher’s rating
Evaluation: False. While neither BMW Group – who operate the plant – nor the Government would confirm the exact amount of public investment in the project, both have made clear it will not solely be funded by the taxpayer. Business Secretary Kemi Badenoch said the investment from the state amounted to a “very light subsidy”.
