The claim

Solarmodule erzeugen 300 mal so viel Giftmüll wie Atomkraftwerke.

Rating

Original review summary

The review says the 300-times claim does not come from a study, and the German Environment Agency called the underlying comparison unserious and nonsensical. It explains that the comparison improperly weighs all photovoltaic modules against nuclear fuel elements, while most module material is recyclable.[S1]

Additional context

The review reports that 92.5% of module weight is recycled in Germany, with another 5% used for energy recovery and 2.5% sent to landfill. [S1]
