Police across India have launched a ‘free ride’ scheme to ensure the safety of women traveling between 10 PM and 6 AM. The helpline numbers for this service are 1091 and 7837018555.

Original review summary

The review finds that 7837018555 is associated with a free-ride service for women traveling alone within Ludhiana city limits between 10 PM and 6 AM, not a nationwide scheme. It describes 1091 as a pan-India women’s helpline that forwards calls to the relevant state’s police, and says there is no countrywide free-ride scheme.[S1]
