De bewering is onwaar. De gyroscoop is juist heel bruikbaar om aan te tonen dat de aarde om haar as draait. Gyroscopen worden in vliegtuigen gebruikt om de positie van het vliegtuig ten opzichte van de horizon te bepalen, wanneer dat met het blote oog niet zichtbaar is.
