The claim
A small European country, Malta, once issued a 1-kilogram silver coin, which is the heaviest coin in the world. Issued in 2003, this silver coin carries the image of King Maharana Pratap and is part of the Knights of Malta series. The coin has a denomination of 5000 Lira and weighs 1 kilogram (silver). This 1-kg coin is considered the world’s largest coin, with Maharana Pratap’s portrait and his birth and death years on one side, and Malta’s national emblem and name on the other. The Government of Malta released only 100 such coins. The fact that a Hindu king from the 16th century received such honour from a nation 6,500 km away shows Maharana Pratap’s immense impact on the world. But it is a matter of great shame that Indian history glorifies the invader Akbar as “Great”! Jai Shivaji
